Congratulations to Rabbi Zushe and Esther Winner, directors of Neshama - Chabad Lubavitch of W Brighton Beach on the marriage of their son Rabbi Moshe Dovid Winner to Rochel Leah. May G-d bless the young couple with the best of luck, combined with health, wealth and G-d willing much Nachas.

May the senior Rabbi and Rebbetzin be blessed with long life and success in their holy work for many more years to come.

A night of Inspiration

In honor of the Yahrzeit of the Rebbe - Neshama – Chabad Lubavitch made a group trip to the Ohel – the Rebbe’s resting place.

Hundreds from many Chabad Houses in the tri-state area participated in this inspirational evening.

The program included dynamic speakers, sensational choir and delicious refreshments.

Following the program Rabbi Winner led a group into the Ohel for prayer, blessing and stirring spiritual moment – known in Chassidism as yechidut.
As customary one reads a note with their Jewish name and mothers name and includes all their requests and needs that the Rebbe beseech on their behalf on high.

Hebrew School End Of Year Celeb. & Grad.

Children, parents and grand-parents joined the Chabad Neshama Hebrew School for the End of Year Celebration and Graduation. The children from each class performed singing some of the many songs they learned this past year.

“We are team players – participant’s not just fans – spectators, Jewish education is about being an active participant”, said Rabbi Avrohom Winner, co-director of the Hebrew School.

Leonid Vayner spoke on behalf of the parent body expressing his appreciation of everything Neshama – Chabad Lubavitch is doing for the Jewish growth in the Brighton – Manhattan Beach communities.

“…I thank my parents for sending me to such a wonderful place, where I have learned and gained so much and are really proud of being Jewish”, said Sam Levit who spoke on behalf of the student body.

Shula Winner, co-director presented the children with their awards and the teachers with gifts of appreciation.

Children watched a video/slide show giving the participants a glimpse of the past years Hebrew School experience.

Upcoming Hebrew School Celebration

Shavuot - Manhattan Beach

Shavuot – the Holiday of the receiving of the Torah. This is the Holiday that Moshe went up on Mt Sinai and got the 10 commandments. To celebrate this holiday we study the whole night, eat dairy foods and listen to the 10 Commandments being read from the Torah scroll.

Neshama – Chabad Lubavitch of Manhattan Beach held an ALL NIGHT study group with Rabbi Winner. “The most interesting part of this night is the Q and A. We all had a chance to challenge the Rabbi, it was amazing”, said Lana a neighbor.

On Friday afternoon there was a special service for men, women and children to hear the 10 Commandment being read from the Torah scroll followed by a dairy Ice Cream party. Many ice cream flavors and topping where served, together with cheese cake and cheese blintzes.

Contrary to the weather channel, thank G-d, the rain held up. It was thus possible to have the planned Friday evening prayer service followed by Shabbat and Shavuot Dinner OUTDOORS in the Rabbi and Shula Winner’s backyard. Hundreds joined for this dinner which went late into the night.

Being that it’s a holiday that one cannot according to Jewish law take any pictures, the only pictures available are the ones that we will forever remember in our minds memory.

Lag B'omer - BBQ - Manhatan Beach

Young Russian-American Jewish families from the Brighton Beach and Manhattan Beach communities joined together to celebrate Lag B’Omer – the 33rd Day of the Omer which is the Yahrzeit – Anniversary day of the passing of Rabi Shimon Bar Yochai – the author of the Zohar one of the most famous books of Kabbala.

It’s a custom to celebrate with an outdoor excursion and making fires symbolic of the holy fire that erupted over his casket on that fateful day of his passing.

Men, women and children enjoyed a most amazing Bar-B-Q, together with great company and celebration. There was singing and dancing around our bon-fire, where everyone had a chance to melt marshmallows.

Challa Baking with Shula

Mothers and Daughters joined Shula Winner for a Challa Baking Class as part of the Jewish Women’s Night Out program.

It was an inspirational evening where everyone got to prepare their own batter from scratch, mixing their own ingredients and thus being bale to make the special blessing.

“Challa is one of the three unique Mitzvos specifically given to the Jewish women”, said Shula Winner, co-director of Neshama - Chabad Lubavitch of Manhattan Beach.
