The faithful flocked across the local waterfront to see the light during a menorah illumination at Holocaust Memorial Park at the foot of Sheepshead Bay.
Rabbi Avrohom Winner director of Neshama-Chabad Lubavitch of Manhattan Beach, and local resident Steven Maksin were elevated in a cherry picker to light the towering candelabra in honor of the Festival of Lights at the tribute park, West End Avenue and Shore Boulevard.
The crowd basked in the glow and participated in a program of celebration and rites, which were preceded, and followed, by dancing in the streets.
